  • John Williams
  • Klaus Badelt (anyone care to explain why his music was used in only the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie?)
  • Hans Zimmer
  • Joe Hisaishi (I wish he could make the background music to my life)
  • Ennio Morricone
  • a few others…

I love listening to Joe Hisaishi on my Pandora when I…

Today, as i waited patiently for a movie to begin in an empty theater. I’ve come realize that the only reason i ever go to the movies in the first place, is frankly because of the music i hear in the movie trailers. For me its the music that grabs my attention. I could care less about the plot as…

Various Sundries of a Mildly Eccentric Mind: New Musical Obsession

Alright, I already posted this song yesterday, so I won’t put it here again, but it would probably be fitting if I did, because I’ve listened to it probably five times since I bought it a couple of hours ago, at least three of these in the last fifteen minutes. Not that this is rare for me….

Does anyone else realize how epic the background music in movies is? I mean, it makes the entire movie. Like in a superhero movie, when the Hero gets injured or is about to die, and in old gladiator type movies, when an important character is dying, or when they are about to lose a battle or something… The music starts to get really dramatic! It’s the best thing ever.

Remaking 'Metropolis'

Metropolis includes movie music that can stand on its own. Hear a new version of the classic score.

Metropolis (1927) Original Film Score by Gottfried Huppertz

from Intermezzo:

  • False Maria is Born
  • Delirium
  • The Whore of Babylon

This is a supposedly lossless rip from the Blu-Ray version of the “complete” Metropolis directed by Fritz Lang, a 1928 silent film.

In the movie, this music goes with False-Maria’s scandalous dance in Yoshiwara and with Freder’s delirium after seeing his father with what he believed was Maria.

If you haven’t seen the movie, I highly suggest it. It’s a masterpiece of film and has been alluded to in such great movies as Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Star Wars.
